Richmond, CA
The BP Fender Dolphin project, located at the BP Lubricants Terminal in Richmond, CA, involved the installation of a new breasting dolphin system. The dolphin was constructed by driving new 66” diameter by 115’ long steel piles using the DB Alameda crane barge. The concrete deck was precast on a 5 foot section of the steel pile to accelerate the schedule. The 68,000 pound cap and steel tee was set at night due to tides and welded to the newly driven pile. Maritime International breasting plates were attached to the steel tee upon completion of the weld connection between the driven piles and the precast dolphin cap.
In addition, water depth issues made access to the work particularly challenging.
…”As I’ve gotten to know all of the individuals within your organization that have come out to the Richmond Facility to work I have nothing but compliments to say. You have created a company where your employees are happy to come to work each day and take pride in the work that they do. Your leadership influences them to want to make Power Engineering a better company. Thanks again and hopefully we can work together again in the future”
