The US Coast Guard Los Angeles-Long Beach had two new 360-foot Offshore Patrol Cutters ready for their homeport fleet, which required an expansion of the High Endurance Cutter Wharf. Power Engineering Construction successfully extended the wharf by adding 260 feet and 5,912 square feet of space.

The project involved demolition of the existing wharf fender system and installation of various new components. This included forty-eight 24-inch precast octagonal concrete wharf piles; seventy-two 24-inch square precast concrete fender piles with HDPE rub strips; nine 16-inch fiber reinforced plastic piles, new bollards, and updated utilities. Additionally, twelve heavily reinforced concrete pile caps were cast in place over water, fifty-five precast concrete deck panels were installed, while topping slab and curbs were formed-and-poured in place. Lastly, the project required revetment restoration and repair.

Upon completion, the USCG Los Angeles-Long Beach now possesses better resources to attend to their newly acquired vessels. Meanwhile, Power Engineering Construction is preparing for more upcoming projects in Southern California.
