To protect boaters and marina operations at Diamond Valley Lake from harsh wind waves, Power Engineering installed a large new floating wave barrier and retrofitted an existing one for the Metropolitan Water District. These barriers reduce wave energy impacting the boat launch area.
The project involved setting over 200 concrete anchor blocks on the lakebed—some as deep as 170 feet. These anchors are what secure the two wave attenuators, each 800 feet long, measuring 8 and 12 feet wide, respectively. Power’s self-performing barge crew handled the anchor placements with diver support for connecting to the anchors at the deepest depths. Other work included removing a 100,000-pound dock.
